and Western Art Show
1858 Sesquicentennial of Fort Walla Walla 2008

 June 14th & 15th, 2008 10 am to 5 pm

  • Walk through encampments of  mountain men, 19th century soldiers, and talk with scores of historical re-enactors!

  • See a Civil War battle re-enactment, plus artillery and firearms demonstrations.

  • Learn about the culture of our neighbors with Indian people from Tamástslikt Cultural Institute.

  • Experience the Wanapum Tribal exhibit and see a diorama of everyday life in a Columbia River village.

  • Soldiers, Pioneers & Indian People: Be sure to visit the wonderful Lloyd Collection, featuring Indian artifacts & regalia that tell a story of mutually beneficial cooperation between a pioneer family and their friends among the Homeland Tribes.

  • Enjoy a western art show of regional artists coordinated by world-renowned artist
    Norman Adams.
  • Learn more about the times of Fort Walla Walla in its sesquicentennial anniversary. A new exhibit opens dedicated to its history. Also, noted author Greg Hodgen will be on hand to sign copies of his most recent book, The Rocks are Ringing: The Bannock-Paiute War, Oregon, 1878. Soldiers from the Fort participated in the final battles just south of Pendleton, Oregon.

Explore a pioneer settlement with 17 original buildings including cabins, playhouses, a jail, schools, barbershop, and more!

Meet Lewis & Clark and Yellept, leader of the Walla Walla people, in a life-size diorama. Follow the explorer's route through what is now Walla Walla County.

Connect with the past as you explore extensive exhibits featuring thousands of artifacts!  See the largest collection of horse-era agriculture in the Inland Northwest.
