"The Waitsburg Family"

book signing and talk by the author Sandra Torres

Date of Lecture: Thursday December 18th, 2014

@ 4pm

Sandra Torres, with her husband Lupe, is the owner and operator of Nothing New Antiques and Lodging in Waitsburg.  The couple moved to Waitsburg after each retired from the Walla Walla post office in 2003.  The Waitsburg Family is Sandra‚Äôs first book to be published.  It was inspired by the move to Waitsburg.  Meeting people and a curiosity about the roots of the town and the connections of its residents started her search for more information through government records and previous publications.

Her book attempts to chronicle the early settlers from the beginning of the town in 1858 to 1900, including each resident in the 1870 census even if that information is all that could be found.  The brief biographical sketches include all the members of each family.  Her emphasis is on the individuals, where they came from , their occupations, and whether they or their descendants remained in the community.
